visual Arts
Dear families,
I hope your children are as excited as I am to get back into making and developing their skills and understanding in visual arts. For those of you who may not know me my name is Dale Meier and I will be teaching visual arts for most grades. This is my 2nd year here at PIADs and as your child’s art teacher I feel I play an important role in developing your child’s imagination, creativity, and overall confidence in art. Visual arts allow us to understand people’s opinions and points of view, which is important in today’s world. Visual Arts when taught effectively allows children to sharpen their problem solving skills, decision making, and gives them a space to explore their creativity. |
I believe communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child in visual arts by email at [email protected]. If you would like to donate any of the following materials I would be most appreciative!
Old t-shirts, cardboard, small toys or plastic items, newspaper, old magazines.
Kind regards,
Dale

UNIT 3 World Map Mural
Grade 3 students will be inquiring into the following central idea: Physical and virtual public spaces provide people with opportunities to make connections and establish a sense of community. Their lines of inquiry will be:
1. How do public spaces affect how we feel, act, or think?
2. How do public spaces affect the community?
Students in Grade 3 will be learning about the importance of art in public spaces, and the power it has to transform communities. We will create a large mural of the world displaying the people, places, and things that are iconic to that area. Students will improve their observational skills by drawing an accurate map of the world. Students will continue to inquire into colour mixing. The mural will be made up of warm and cool colours.
